Congratulations on a successful hunt! Following are the procedures for dropping off your deer at Carnival Deer Processing. You can drop off your harvest 24/7. There is a drop-off zone in the building if we are not present. We will be there every day during the gun hunting season, and one week past. If you harvest a deer later than that, please call.
If you want to donate your venison to a local pantry, our facility is a 2024 Deer Donation Processor registered with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. More information can be found in our 11-8-2024 blog post.
Deer must be gutted before you bring it to us, but should still be fresh. We reserve the right to refuse any deer that is spoiled or appears to be mishandled. This is for the safety of everyone who entrusts their processing to us. For tips on safe field dressing (as well as meat storage guidelines) check out this information sheet put out by Penn State University : Venison Tips PSU
Register your deer as soon as possible. This can be done online via the Harvest page of the Wisconsin DNR Go Wild site. You don’t need a login username, just your tag number from the license.
Our address is N9153 Cherry Tree Drive, Algoma, WI. The brick building is 3 stories tall from the road. The drop-off zone is through the door furthest from the road. It is a nice, quiet, road that doesn’t see a lot of traffic. There are three tenants living in the building, and someone else’s family farm shares the driveway. Please be respectful to our tenants and neighbors as you are coming and going.
- Drive all the way to the back of the building. Enter through the service door next to the roll-up door. You will enter into a long hallway. From the inside, you can raise the roll-up door to bring your deer in. We will have these procedures posted in the hallway.
- There are three baskets on the wall, containing tags, blank cut sheets, and completed sheets.
- Take a tag, any number. Use a sharpie or pen to put your name on the tag. Attach the tag to your deer.
- Pick a cutting sheet and fill out. Be sure to clearly write your tag number, name, and contact info on the sheet. Feel free to add any notes on the back.
- Place your completed sheet in the third bin.
- Try not to block the door with your deer. Drag your deer down the hall as far as possible to leave room for anyone else bringing in deer.
- IF YOU WANT THE HEAD & CAPE SAVED, PLEASE CALL US IN ADVANCE OR AS SOON AS YOU DROP OFF. The deer needs to be fresh, not frozen. If it is already frozen or has been sitting too long the cape will not hold up well. In our own personal hunts, we have cut and saved heads & capes. We will do our best to preserve your trophy, but do not guarantee a perfect cut. There is an extra charge for preserving the head and cape. See our pricing page for more details.
If you are bringing deer during the bow season or bonus hunts, please call us at 920-493-8733 to notify us that a deer is coming. We will check daily for new deer during the 2 week gun hunting season. If the weather is too warm, we will be checking more often and moving deer into the cooler. We will weigh the deer when we have it on the pulley for skinning. Once weighed, we will record the weight on your cutting sheet.
We will hang the deer in our cooler to let it rest before carving. When your deer is ready for pickup, we will contact you by phone, text, and/or email. Payment is due at time of pick-up. Please bring your own boxes or crates to take your packaged deer home.
